The FE Power timing covers are designed to fit any FE engine, and offer the following advantages:
- Removable front cover plate, allowing access to the top timing gear without removing the harmonic balancer and timing cover. This allows removal of the top timing gear and the cam. With some timing sets, this also allows quickly changing the cam timing. The removable cover is steel, powder coated silver on the front side, and seals to the timing cover casting with an O-ring; no gaskets required.
- Reinforced mounting bosses are provided on the front of the cover for custom brackets, that can be used to mount a crank sensor, vacuum pump, etc.
- The cover accepts the standard FE front seal, installed from the rear. It also accepts a 351C front seal, that installs from the front. This allows easier seal changes, and the possibility of using a double lip 351C front seal for dry sump or vacuum pump applications. When using the 351C front seal, some machining of the stock FE crank spacer is required.
- The bottom two bolt bosses on this cover are extended forward. This allows the two corner oil pan bolt holes in the cover to be tapped through more material, eliminating the stripped threads commonly found in the stock FE timing cover.

FE Timing Cover InstructionsFE Power recently introduced our Dress-Up kit (part number 14010) for the FE Power timing covers. These kits feature a finned aluminum cover plate which bolts on to the #14001 or #14002 timing cover. Because the finned aluminum cover plate is approximately 3/8" thicker than the steel cover plate that normally comes with the timing covers, the water pump will no longer bolt on due to interference between the back of the pump and the finned aluminum cover plate. To compensate for this, the dress-up kit includes spacers for the water pump, alternator, and crank pulleys, so that all the engine accessories remain in alignment. As an added feature, the water pump spacers feature an O-ring seal on the engine side, to make removal and replacement of the water pump easier and faster, when accessing the top timing gear through the finned aluminum cover plate
The #14010 dress-up kits are available now for $159, or purchase the kit with one of the FE Power timing covers for $435.
